Over the past 10 years, more than 95% of Canadian equity mutual funds have underperformed their benchmark after fees, according to the latest SPIVA Canada report. Globally, the results are similar. More than 90% of active managers failed to beat the market over the long term.

Robert holds many relevant industry credentials including the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Certified Investment Manager, and the Institute of Corporate Directors designations

Robert is a current member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Nunavut Trust and the Chair of the Independent Review Committee for JP Morgan Canada ETF. He is the past Chair of the Board of the CFA Society Toronto and past Board member of the Pension Investment Association of Canada and past Chair of its Investment Practices Committee. Robert is a past member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Office of Public Guardian and Trustee.

Personal story

After spending more than 25 years advising and managing billions of dollars for institutional investors, pension plans, endowments, and other large asset pools, I came to a powerful realization: the core strategies that make institutions successful can be easily adapted for individuals. The methods are not secret. They’re not even that complicated. Its that many people assume they can’t or shouldn’t do it themselves. Investing doesn’t need to be complicated. The avoidance of not taking some control, quietly cost hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime, and even worse, the freedom of financial independence or not reaching their financial goals.
